In 1989, Dale Montgomery was a fisherman who couldn't find a slab lure he was truly satisfied with. So he started making his own — hand-painting each one in his garage in Cordell, Oklahoma with the colors he knew fish would bite.
Word spread fast. Guides started calling. Bass Pro Shops started ordering. And Lead Babies Slabs grew from a garage operation into a brand carried across 9 states.
Today, Lead Babies Slabs is under new ownership, and every slab is hand-painted and assembled in Canton, Oklahoma. Every hook is still Eagle Claw. The only thing that's changed is the number of fish we've caught.
1989
Founded in Cordell, Oklahoma by Dale Montgomery.
1993
First retail placement in local tackle shops across western Oklahoma.
1998
Entered Bass Pro Shops — placed in 3 Oklahoma locations.
2003
Expanded to 9 states; Cabela's partnership begins
